Maintenance work by TCN contractors to disrupt electricity supply in Apapa, Ajegunle, Kirikiri and nearby areas……
Customers of Eko Electricity Distribution Company (EKEDC) have been informed of a scheduled power outage set to take place on Saturday, March 14, as part of ongoing efforts to carry out maintenance and upgrade works on the electricity network.
The distribution company disclosed the development in a power update issued to customers on Sunday, stating that the temporary disruption is necessary to facilitate technical improvements aimed at enhancing electricity service delivery.
According to the notice, the outage will occur between 9:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m., during which contractors working with the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) will undertake essential maintenance operations on the power infrastructure.
In the statement, the company informed customers about the planned interruption and the reason behind it.
“Dear valued customer, kindly be informed of a planned power outage scheduled as follows: Date: Saturday, 14th March 2026. Time: 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM,” the notice read.
EKEDC explained that the exercise is necessary to allow technical teams carry out upgrade works that are expected to improve the stability and efficiency of electricity supply across affected areas.
“This outage is required to allow Transmission Company of Nigeria contractors carry out essential maintenance and upgrade works on the network to improve service delivery,” the company stated.
Several communities in Lagos are expected to experience the temporary power disruption during the maintenance period. The areas listed include Apapa, Kirikiri, Ajegunle, Mobil Road, and other neighbouring communities.
The electricity distribution company acknowledged that the outage may cause inconvenience to residents and businesses but assured customers that the maintenance work is necessary to strengthen the network and improve electricity supply in the long run.
EKEDC therefore appealed to customers in the affected locations for patience and cooperation while the work is carried out.
“We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your understanding,” the company added in the notice.
