A group of concerned citizens from Efon Alaaye, both at home and in the diaspora, has issued a stern warning to Hon. Oladapo Karounwi, the Commissioner for Physical Planning in Ekiti State. The group alleges that Karounwi’s actions are fueling a potential political crisis in the local government area.
In a statement signed by Mr Owodayo Julius, convener of the Concerned Efon Alaaye Citizens (CEAC), and Comrade Adebayo Adedamola, Public Relations Officer, the group accused Karounwi of handling All Progressives Congress (APC) affairs with high-handedness and impunity. They claim that his actions are akin to those of a private enterprise, where he makes decisions without regard for others.
The group expressed concern that Karounwi’s actions are giving Efon Alaaye a bad image and undermining the community’s positive political developments. They cited his alleged manipulation of the APC election primaries in Efon Alaaye Local Government as an example of his high-handedness.
The group called on Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji to intervene and call Karounwi to order. They warned that if Karounwi’s actions are not checked, it could lead to a repeat of past ugly incidents and undermine the administration’s efforts.
The group emphasised that Efon Alaaye is a peaceful community that has always been loyal to the government. They stressed that they will not tolerate any actions that undermine the community’s progress and stability.
The situation in Efon Alaaye remains tense, and the concerned citizens are urging the government to take immediate action to prevent a potential crisis.
