The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has says it returned ₦104,091,162.46 to the Niger State Government following the recovery of unremitted tax revenues from Kiara Rice Mills Limited, a company operating in Kpatsuwa Village, Mokwa Local Government Area.
The official handover took place on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, at the EFCC’s Zonal Office in GRA, Ilorin.
According to the Commission, the recovered funds represent tax liabilities owed by the company between 2021 and 2024. The EFCC initiated an investigation after receiving intelligence in February 2025 suggesting that the company had failed to remit its full tax obligations despite operating profitably, a violation of both federal and state tax laws.
The investigation, led by Assistant Commander Abubakar Koko of the Foreign Exchange Malpractice Section, confirmed the infractions and secured full recovery of the outstanding amount.
Speaking at the ceremony, EFCC Chairman, Ola Olukoyede, represented by the Ilorin Zonal Director, Ansalem Ozioko, reiterated the Commission’s resolve to ensure that public funds are recovered and returned to legitimate owners. He also called for stronger collaboration with the Niger State Government to deepen transparency and accountability in public finance management.
Receiving the recovered funds, the Group Head of Tax Operations at the Niger State Internal Revenue Service (NSIRS), Aminu Bawa, commended the EFCC for its professionalism and dedication.
He assured that the recovered money would be credited to the state treasury and deployed for developmental projects that directly benefit the people of Niger State.
