The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has declared former Minister of Petroleum Resources and ex-Governor of Bayelsa State, Timipre Sylva, wanted.
In a statement issued on Monday by its spokesperson, Dele Oyewale, the EFCC announced that Sylva is being sought in connection with an alleged case of conspiracy and the dishonest conversion of $14,859,257.
The sum is said to be part of the funds invested by the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) into Atlantic International Refinery and Petrochemical Limited for the construction of a refinery.
According to the EFCC, a warrant for Sylva’s arrest was granted on November 6, 2025, by Justice D. I. Dipeolu of the Federal High Court in Lagos.
The court order authorizes the Commission, the police, or any law enforcement agency to apprehend the former minister and present him before investigators to respond to the allegations.
The EFCC urged members of the public with credible information regarding Sylva’s whereabouts to contact any of its zonal offices, the nearest police station, or other security agencies.
As of the time of filing this report, the former governor has not released an official statement addressing the development.
