Governor Monday Okpebholo of Edo State has terminated the appointment of his Special Adviser on Youth Mobilisation, Collins Aigbogun, after his alleged involvement in unrest during a recent anti-kidnapping protest.
The removal was confirmed on Friday in a statement by the Secretary to the State Government, Umar Musa Ikhilor. The decision comes amid ongoing investigations into the violent protest that recently occurred in Ekpoma, Esan West Local Government Area.
According to reports, Aigbogun was taken into custody after the governor ordered a probe into the unrest, which escalated from the protest. He remained in police detention at the time his appointment was terminated.
Following his dismissal, Governor Okpebholo approved the appointment of Christopher Udobor Iyase as the new Special Adviser on Youth Mobilisation.
According to the statement, Iyase is a committed youth advocate with a strong passion for the welfare and development of young people across Edo State. The government expressed confidence that his appointment would strengthen youth engagement and advance the administration’s objectives.
The state government reiterated its resolve to uphold law and order while promoting accountability in public service.
