The Chief Executive Officer of Surprised Pub and Cafe and Realknock Entertainment, Matthew Oshodin, has called on Nigerian artistes to embrace Artificial Intelligence (AI) to enhance efficiency, reduce production costs, and maximize their creative output.
Speaking on his more than 20-year journey in the hospitality and entertainment industry, Oshodin said AI is revolutionizing music production and can help artistes achieve high-quality results without the high expenses traditionally associated with music videos.
“One of the best things that has happened to the entertainment industry is the introduction of AI,” he said. “Before now, producing music videos was costly, but today AI can generate visuals, costumes, and other production elements. It’s a game-changer, and I hope artistes use it positively.”
Oshodin also praised Edo State’s improved nightlife, attributing the progress to government initiatives addressing insecurity.
“When there’s insecurity, night businesses struggle because people stay indoors. The state’s anti-cultism and anti-kidnapping laws have made a real difference. Security has improved, and our business is thriving,” he said.
Highlighting the importance of public-private collaboration, Oshodin called for government partnerships with the entertainment sector to discover and nurture young talent, create employment opportunities, and support economic growth.
“I would like the government to work with us to provide platforms that engage the youth. Recognizing and rewarding talented artistes can motivate them to excel and contribute to Edo State’s GDP,” he said.
Oshodin, a recipient of awards including the Benin Film Academy in collaboration with Igbinedion University, Bside FM Award, and Rotary Club Oregbeni Award, emphasized that structured support, mentorship, and recognition could inspire a new generation of creative professionals in Edo State.
