The Speaker of the ECOWAS Parliament, Hon. Hadja Mémounatou Ibrahima, praised the valuable discussions held during both the session and the accompanying parliamentary seminar focused on artificial intelligence.
In her closing address at the 2025 second extraordinary session of the ECOWAS Parliament, delivered on Saturday in Port Harcourt, Nigeria, she highlighted two key achievements: the conclusion of the seminar, which lays the groundwork for an ethical and responsible approach to AI adoption in Africa, and the approval of the draft 2026 budget for the ECOWAS Parliament, seen as a crucial driver for the Parliament’s priority initiatives.
Speaker Ibrahima extended her thanks to the Nigerian authorities, fellow Members of Parliament, and all those who contributed to the session’s success.
She concluded by expressing her hope that these outcomes will foster an innovative and forward-thinking institution committed to serving the people and promoting regional integration in alignment with the ECOWAS Vision 2050.
