As part of its 50th anniversary celebrations, the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), in collaboration with the Government of Sierra Leone, conducted a District Sensitisation and Stakeholder Engagement Tour from February 2 to 5, 2026. The tour covered four districts in the country.
The outreach effort targeted schools, community groups, and local stakeholders to enhance public understanding of ECOWAS’s mandate and accomplishments.
This initiative reinforced ECOWAS’s commitments to peace, democratic governance, youth and women empowerment, trade facilitation, and inclusive socio-economic development.
Additionally, the tour aimed to strengthen grassroots ownership of the regional integration agenda, in alignment with ECOWAS Vision 2050: “ECOWAS of the People – Peace and Prosperity for All.”
By engaging directly with local communities, ECOWAS seeks to build trust, raise civic awareness, and ensure that regional policies resonate beyond policy circles, translating into tangible benefits for communities across West Africa.
