Galatasaray reporter Ali Naci Küçük has revealed why Atalanta forward Ademola Lookman may not be joining his Nigerian teammate Victor Osimhen at the Turkish club in the January transfer window.
Galatasaray have been strongly linked with a move for the Nigerian international ahead of the winter window, but according to Küçük, the deal appears financially unrealistic for the Süper Lig champions.
Speaking during an interview, Küçük disclosed that Lookman’s wage demands and Atalanta’s asking price have priced Galatasaray out of the deal.
“A transfer for Ademola Lookman is out of the question. Atalanta’s asking price for Lookman is €60 million, and the player wants €9 million per year,” Küçük was quoted by Habersarikirmizi as saying.
He added that those figures are on par with what Galatasaray paid for Osimhen, making it highly unlikely for the club to pursue another big-money move.
“So, he won’t be able to come. A transfer for Lookman to Galatasaray is unlikely,” Küçük concluded.
