The Department of State Services (DSS) has announced the dismissal of 115 personnel as part of ongoing internal reforms designed to enhance discipline, professionalism, and integrity within the agency.
In a statement released on Tuesday via its official X handle, the DSS explained that the dismissals were carried out over time as part of a broader effort to sanitize its ranks and uphold the Service’s ethical standards.
The agency further cautioned the public against engaging with individuals who, despite being dismissed, continue to impersonate active DSS operatives.
“In addition to earlier disclaimers on the duo of Barry Donald and Victor Onyedikachi Godwin, the Service finds it necessary to warn citizens of the fraudulent activities of some of these persons still posing as DSS personnel,” the statement read.
The DSS urged Nigerians to verify the identity of anyone claiming to be its operative before conducting any official business, emphasizing that the names of all dismissed personnel have been published on its website, www.dss.gov.ng, for transparency.
“For the sake of clarity, the identities of the dismissed personnel have been published on the website of the Service,” it reiterated.
Earlier, the Service had issued a public warning regarding two former operatives—Barry Donald and Victor Onyedikachi Godwin—accusing them of leveraging their former positions to perpetrate fraud.
The DSS confirmed that both individuals have since been arrested and will face prosecution.
The announcement comes at a time of heightened public scrutiny over the conduct of Nigeria’s security agencies, following recent reports alleging misconduct and procedural lapses in certain operations.
