Three months after arraigning suspects in the Yelwata and Plateau massacres, the Department of State Services has recorded another breakthrough, arresting a man believed to be a major supplier of weapons to armed groups.
On November 12, DSS operatives apprehended Musa Abubakar in a targeted raid on his workshop in Mista Ali, Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State. The arrest followed weeks of surveillance and credible intelligence.
Investigators say Abubakar confessed to manufacturing and distributing high‑caliber weapons and ammunition to groups behind violent attacks in Plateau and other northern states. He was caught with components of improvised explosive devices, chemicals, and equipment, all seized by the DSS.
This latest operation comes on the heels of the recapture of Abdulazeez Obadaki, alias Bomboy, a Kuje Prison escapee accused of masterminding the Owo and Deeper Life Church attacks.
The DSS has recently intensified its crackdown on terror networks. Nine high‑profile suspects linked to Plateau and Benue violence have already been arrested, including Timna Manjol, who pleaded guilty to illegal possession of firearms in a case before the Federal High Court in Abuja.
