Operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) have arrested a suspected notorious commander of the Eastern Security Network (ESN), Sabastine Odo Odam, alongside Ejike Daniel, an alleged member of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), during operations carried out on March 6 in Eha-Amufu and Umuhu communities in Isi-Uzo Local Government Area of Enugu State.
Security sources disclosed that the arrests followed months of sustained intelligence gathering and surveillance on the activities of the suspects.
The operation comes amid ongoing investigations into a series of violent attacks on police facilities and other killings recorded in Isi-Uzo LGA between 2024 and 2026.
According to the sources, the suspects have allegedly confessed to masterminding several attacks on police stations, during which weapons were stolen.
The incidents under investigation include the February 26 killing of 11 labourers, as well as the deaths of five police officers in separate attacks that occurred between December 24, 2025, and January 26, 2026.
A security source described the arrests as a major breakthrough for the DSS in its ongoing efforts to curb insecurity in the South-East and across the country.
Residents of Isi-Uzo Local Government Area have reportedly welcomed the development, expressing relief and optimism that the arrests could help restore peace and stability to communities that have experienced repeated violence.
The suspects are currently in DSS custody and are expected to be arraigned in court as investigations progress, the source added.
