The Department of State Services (DSS) has arraigned nine individuals believed to be prime suspects behind the recent spate of killings in Benue and Plateau States.
In a related move, the security agency also brought charges against an alleged gunrunner found in possession of seven M16 rifles, a cache authorities say was destined for violent networks fueling insecurity in the region.
The arraignment marks a significant step in ongoing efforts to curb escalating violence in the North-Central, where deadly clashes between armed groups and communities have left scores dead and displaced thousands in recent months.
Officials said the suspects face multiple counts linked to terrorism, unlawful possession of firearms, and complicity in mass killings, underscoring the government’s resolve to dismantle criminal networks destabilising the region.
The DSS pledged to intensify its operations against armed syndicates, assuring that no individual or group implicated in the violence would be spared from justice.
