Veteran Nigerian media personality and actress Doyin Kukoyi has finally addressed rumours suggesting she is married to actor Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo.
The speculation began in 2022 when photos of the pair in matching traditional attire circulated widely on social media. Kukoyi herself shared the images on Instagram with affectionate emojis, sparking claims that she had become Ogogo’s third wife.
Speaking on the Nollywood on Radio podcast, Kukoyi clarified that the pictures were part of a promotional campaign for a film in which they played a married couple. She reassured fans that she is happily married with three children and was never offended by the misconception.
Reflecting on the experience, the actress said she found the rumours amusing, adding that people often stop her on the street asking about “her husband,” to which she responds cheerfully. “I realised that people would talk about the things you bring online… The first one, I was at a location with Sir Tee (Ogogo). We played the role of husband and wife. We took a picture, and I tagged it with my heart rob. And everyone still believes that I’m married to Ogogo. I did that to sell that movie. And I did not correct the misconception,” she explained.
Kukoyi’s comments highlight the fine line between social media promotion and public speculation in the age of celebrity culture.
