U.S. President Donald Trump has reiterated his commitment to continuing military pressure against Iran, promising what he described as “very hard” strikes while insisting that any potential agreement would require what he termed “unconditional surrender” from Tehran.
In a post on his Truth Social platform, Trump stated, “There will be no deal with Iran except unconditional surrender,” signalling a hardline stance toward the ongoing conflict.
The U.S. president has not provided a specific timeline for the end of hostilities but told Time (magazine) in a recent interview that he believes the administration’s military objectives could be achieved within four to five weeks.
However, he added that there are “no time limits” on the campaign, emphasising his desire to see the mission concluded successfully.
Trump also indicated interest in participating in discussions surrounding Iran’s future leadership, saying he would like to be involved in selecting a successor to the late Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, who was reportedly killed alongside several members of Iran’s leadership during Saturday’s escalation.
Meanwhile, Iranian authorities have vowed not to surrender, maintaining a defiant position as tensions between Washington and Tehran continue to escalate.
