Veteran music producer and Mavin Records founder, Don Jazzy, has reflected on the personal sacrifices that came with his rise to the top of Nigeria’s entertainment industry.
Speaking on the Echo Podcast, the 42-year-old revealed that while he has no regrets about his career path, one aspect of his life he may have unconsciously set aside is marriage.
When asked what success had cost him, Don Jazzy admitted he never envisioned being unmarried at his age.
“I never thought I’d be in my 40s and not married. Maybe that’s the one I lost along the way. If it comes, it comes. If it doesn’t, I’m totally fine,” he said.
The producer, who has been instrumental in building the careers of top Afrobeats stars including Tiwa Savage, Rema, and Ayra Starr, added that his life would still revolve around music even if he wasn’t running a record label.
Despite acknowledging the trade-offs, Don Jazzy emphasized that he feels fulfilled with his contributions to the music industry, which has made him one of the most influential figures in African entertainment.
