Ace producer and Mavin Records chief Don Jazzy has declared that his former signee, Wande Coal, holds the title for the best vocals in the Nigerian music industry.
He made the statement on Wednesday during an interactive session with fans on X. A fan had complimented Don Jazzy, claiming he had the “best and most unique voice” in the industry. But in his response, the music mogul modestly disagreed.
“Most unique I agree, best na Wande [Coal],” he wrote.
Wande Coal, known for his rich tone and vocal agility, is widely acclaimed as one of Afrobeats’ strongest vocal forces. His artistry has influenced several contemporary stars, including Wizkid, Fireboy DML, and Oxlade, who have all publicly acknowledged him as an inspiration.
Don Jazzy’s remark adds to the long-running praise surrounding Wande Coal’s vocal legacy in Nigerian music.
