Media personality Do2dtun has called on DJs and hypemen across Nigeria to reassess their service charges ahead of the upcoming festive season.
In a post shared on X (formerly Twitter), the popular on-air personality noted that many top musicians typically raise their performance fees during the holiday period, making them unaffordable for smaller brands and private clients.
Do2dtun suggested that this presents a golden opportunity for DJs and hypemen to step in and fill the entertainment gap at events that might not be able to afford A-list performers.“This is a public service announcement to all hypemen and DJs yet again,” he wrote. “We are getting close to that time of the season when our beloved musicians will charge ridiculously, and maybe some brands and individuals can’t afford it. So, please adjust your rate cards so you can fill in for them. Hype is alive.”
His advice comes as several entertainment figures have raised concerns about the rising cost of live performances in Nigeria.
Recently, comedian Mr. Jollof criticized what he described as “unrealistic” performance fees charged by some Nigerian artists. He warned that the trend could dampen festive celebrations and urged musicians to consider fans and event organizers who are already grappling with higher operating costs.
Do2dtun’s post has since sparked discussions online, with many in the entertainment industry agreeing that flexible pricing could help sustain the vibrant party culture Nigeria is known for during the holiday season.
