A new skills gap and gender analysis by BrighterMonday Kenya reveals a widening mismatch between what Kenyan employers need and what graduates offer.
According to the report, digital and ICT skills top the list, with 76% of companies deeming them essential. However, demand also remains strong for sales, marketing, and financial competencies. Employers are increasingly prioritising how young people work, not just what their certificates show.
The study highlights that communication (82.8%), adaptability and problem-solving (69%), and teamwork (65.5%) are the top three soft skills employers consider non-negotiable.
