Paris Saint-Germain’s Ousmane Dembele and Barcelona’s Aitana Bonmati were crowned the world’s best male and female players at the 2025 Ballon d’Or ceremony held in Paris on Monday.
Dembele claimed the men’s award after firing PSG to a historic treble—the Champions League, Ligue 1, and French Cup—scoring 35 goals and providing 14 assists in 53 matches.
Bonmati made history by winning the women’s Ballon d’Or for the third consecutive year, becoming the first woman ever to achieve the feat. The Barcelona and Spain midfielder received the trophy from club legend Andrés Iniesta.
Other winners included Lionesses boss Sarina Wiegman, named Women’s Coach of the Year, while England and Chelsea goalkeeper Hannah Hampton secured the Women’s Goalkeeper of the Year award.
Barcelona prodigy Lamine Yamal won the Kopa Trophy as the best player under 21 for the second year running, after also finishing as a finalist for the men’s Ballon d’Or.
England had a strong presence in the women’s category, with Arsenal’s Alessia Russo finishing third and Chloe Kelly placing fifth among five Lionesses in the top 10.
