The Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, has condemned the brutal attack on Government Girls Comprehensive Senior Secondary School (GGCSS), Maga, in Kebbi State, describing the incident as utterly unacceptable.
In a statement issued by the Ministry of Defence spokesperson, Enderline Chukwu, on Monday, Matawalle called on all security agencies to act swiftly and collaboratively to locate and secure the safe release of the abducted students.
He stressed that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has already directed security operatives in the state to immediately mobilize and ensure that the girls are rescued unharmed.
“The government, under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has ordered the state’s security apparatus to swing into immediate action to ensure the abducted students are safely released,” the minister said.
Matawalle urged security agencies—including the military, police, and intelligence units—to coordinate closely and bring the perpetrators to justice without delay.
He also appealed for calm among residents of the affected communities, assuring them that the government is taking decisive steps to resolve the situation.
The minister extended heartfelt condolences to the family of the slain Vice Principal, Malam Hassan Makuku, and to all families affected by the attack.
“I pray to Allah to grant him mercy, a peaceful resting place, and to comfort his family and loved ones over this painful and unjust loss,” he added.
Gunmen had stormed the school late Sunday night in Danko/Wasagu Local Government Area, killing Makuku before abducting several female students.
In response, security operatives—including police tactical teams, military personnel, and community vigilantes—have launched a coordinated search of the surrounding forests in an intensified effort to rescue the missing students.
