Comedian and former Big Brother Naija housemate DeeOne has called on Peter Obi to reassess his political strategy ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
In a video that has gained traction online, DeeOne argued that the campaign approach adopted during the 2023 election cycle would not deliver the same outcome in the next contest.
The remarks come amid the emergence of the City Boy Movement, a group backing President Bola Tinubu’s anticipated 2027 re-election bid. The movement reportedly includes individuals who previously supported Obi.
DeeOne warned against underestimating the growing pro-Tinubu mobilisation, describing it as a serious political force rather than a symbolic effort.
He also questioned Obi’s funding model during the last election, claiming that some Labour Party agents faced logistical challenges at polling units. According to him, campaign representatives struggled with basic welfare provisions, including food and water.
The comedian suggested that if personal funds are limited, Obi could consider structured fundraising from supporters, coupled with transparent accounting of campaign expenditures.
DeeOne stressed that offering candid advice should not be interpreted as hostility. Instead, he said constructive criticism is necessary if Obi intends to mount a stronger challenge in 2027.
Peter Obi, who contested the 2023 presidential election under the Labour Party, has not publicly responded to the comedian’s comments at the time of this report.
