Popular Nigerian reality TV star and comedian Aderombi Adedayo, popularly known as DeeOne, has revealed that celebrity fashion designer Veekee James was once his girlfriend.
The disclosure comes after Veekee James described DeeOne as an “unserious” individual during a recent appearance on the Unfiltered and Extra Spicy with Ify’s Kitchen podcast. She said, “For someone like DeeOne, if you are a smart person, you will know that you cannot take him seriously. If you take him seriously, then you are either jobless or something else. I have really not seen him say something serious.”
In response, DeeOne referred to Veekee’s comments as a “blast from the past” and noted that he has long moved on from their relationship.
Speaking in a video on his Instagram page captioned “Ruth, you never still move on from this our matter,” DeeOne explained that their relationship started after he left Big Brother Naija in 2018. He emphasised that there is no bad blood between them and that he does not resent her.
“Some people in the industry know about this. Even her husband, Mr. Femi James, knows. I don’t like when people are controlling or messaging me too much,” DeeOne said, recalling instances when Veekee would request frequent assistance from him. “I was her boyfriend, not her house help.”
Despite her remarks, DeeOne stated he has only good wishes for Veekee James and remains supportive of her work. He also urged fans to avoid taking celebrity disputes personally, noting that many aspects of the entertainment industry remain unknown to the public.
“But from me, it’s all love. Don’t take all this personally,” he concluded. “The reason I’m saying this is because she’s the one that talks negatively about me.”
