Nollywood actress and producer Debbie Shokoya has strongly refuted viral claims linking her to Fuji musician Abass Akande Obesere as his biological daughter.
The actress addressed the rumour in a video posted on her Instagram page, expressing frustration over what she described as a completely fabricated story. She stated that she has never met the singer and did not make any of the statements being attributed to her.
Shokoya questioned the origin of the claim and criticised how quickly it spread across social media platforms without proper verification.
“It is not funny anymore; the news is everywhere. I have never met Obesere before, and you claim I said he’s my biological father?” she said.
She further noted that the false report had triggered negative reactions online, with some users directing abusive comments at her based on the misinformation.
The actress urged bloggers and content creators to act responsibly by confirming information before publishing. She also called on those who circulated the initial claim to correct it with the same urgency.
“Obesere is not my biological father. Please stop spreading fake news. Stop posting things I never said,” she added.
Shokoya maintained that she has no personal relationship with the Fuji star and emphasised the need for accuracy in reporting, warning against the consequences of spreading unverified stories.
