Popular Nigerian singer D’banj has shed light on the long-discussed split of Mo’Hits, revealing that it was his former partner, Don Jazzy, who initiated the breakup.
Speaking on the Mic On podcast hosted by Seun Okinbaloye, D’banj explained that the decision to part ways in 2012 was entirely Don Jazzy’s idea, and he holds no regrets over the separation.
“If I were to go back in time, I wouldn’t have done anything differently regarding my relationship with Don Jazzy, especially when the idea to go our separate ways didn’t come from me. It came from Don Jazzy 100 per cent,” he said.
D’banj also confirmed that Don Jazzy granted him full rights to his catalog, along with several unreleased tracks. He reflected on their last collaborative project, the hit single Oliver Twist, describing it as the culmination of their shared journey.
Although he emphasized that the split was inevitable, D’banj admitted that he misses collaborating with Don Jazzy and acknowledges the producer’s significant role in his career.
Their conversation reignites discussions about Mo’Hits’ influence on Nigerian music, highlighting both artists’ enduring legacy in Afrobeats.
