Nollywood actress Dayo Amusa has gone public with her HIV test result, using the moment to encourage Nigerians to prioritize regular testing.
In a post shared on Instagram on September 15, 2025, Amusa said knowing one’s HIV status is both a personal responsibility and a way of protecting others.
The actress listed several benefits of early testing, including timely access to treatment, reduced risk of transmission, improved health outcomes, peace of mind, and the prevention of mother-to-child transmission. She emphasized that testing also helps reduce stigma surrounding the virus.
“To whom it may concern. Updated result dated 15th September 2025,” Amusa wrote. “I still feel the need to encourage individuals to get tested and to know their HIV status. It is better to know your status so you can guide yourself and save others, too. You don’t have to die before death comes.”
She further noted that consistent testing offers reassurance and allows individuals to take informed steps to safeguard their health and that of their loved ones.
Amusa’s public statement comes months after she forgave a TikTok user who falsely accused her of being HIV-positive. Although she had initially threatened legal action, she later withdrew her petition after meeting the creator’s family and learning of his personal loss.
By sharing her test result, Amusa joins a growing number of public figures using their platforms to advocate for health awareness and fight discrimination against people living with HIV.
