Nollywood actress Dayo Amusa has been elected the National Vice President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) following the guild’s national election held in Benin City, Edo State.
Her election marks a significant moment for the guild, which is seeking stronger leadership and improved organisational standards. In a statement issued on Monday, December 8, Amusa said her emergence reflects the confidence members have placed in her commitment to the guild’s progress.
Amusa described the new role as an opportunity to strengthen the guild’s administrative structure, pledging to bring “renewed energy, creativity, and professional excellence” to the AGN Secretariat. She assured members that her tenure would prioritise transparency, innovative policies, and impactful service delivery.
The actress, known for her performances in numerous films and for producing titles such as the Yoruba hit Dewunmi Iberu, said she intends to use the office to push for better representation and protection of Nigerian actors.
According to her, the Nigerian film industry must “occupy its rightful place” in national development, adding that guild leaders must work together to elevate industry standards and improve welfare.
Beyond her new AGN role, Amusa currently serves as Vice President of the Ijebu Pride Network, a cultural initiative celebrating the heritage and creative achievements of talents from Ijebuland and Remoland. The network, founded by Bashorun Femi Branch, brings together notable figures from the region’s entertainment community.
Amusa remains widely respected within Nollywood, not only for her acting and production work but also for mentoring emerging talent and contributing to industry advocacy.
With her election, many guild members are hopeful for a more vibrant, accountable, and inclusive AGN.
