Afrobeats superstar Davido has been confirmed as a headline act for the official opening concert of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), set to take place in Rabat, Morocco.
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) announced that the concert will be held on Saturday at the Olm Souissi Fan Zone, just one day before the tournament officially kicks off. The event will feature a mix of international and African stars, reflecting the cultural diversity of the continent.
According to CAF, Davido will share the stage with global hip-hop star French Montana, alongside Moroccan singer Douaa Lahyaoui, French-Moroccan hitmaker Lartiste, and rising artist Says’z.
In its statement, CAF said the line-up was curated to celebrate African music, culture, and global influence, adding that the opening concert is designed to set the tone for what promises to be a memorable edition of the tournament.
The event will be open to fans who possess valid Fan IDs and match tickets, with organisers expecting a large turnout from both local supporters and international visitors.
Davido is no stranger to performing on major global stages. The Nigerian singer has previously entertained audiences at the opening ceremony of AFCON 2017, the 2022 FIFA World Cup draw in Doha, and the 2023 Professional Footballers’ Association (PFA) Awards.
The 2025 Africa Cup of Nations finals will officially begin on Saturday with the opening match between hosts Morocco and Comoros at the Stade Prince Moulay Abdallah in Rabat.
The combination of football and music is expected to create a vibrant atmosphere as Africa’s biggest football festival gets underway.
