Award-winning Afrobeats singer David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has revealed that he has significantly scaled back the high-energy party lifestyle that once defined his early years in the music industry.
Speaking during an interview on The LongForm Podcast, the singer attributed the shift to personal growth, family responsibilities, and a renewed appreciation for rest. Davido explained that early fame, wealth, and influence pushed him into an intense nightlife culture that no longer aligns with his current priorities.
According to the singer, his idea of fun has changed. Instead of frequenting clubs, he now prefers spending quiet time at home, working in the studio, hosting small gatherings, or connecting virtually with his wife when work keeps him away.
“I used to go to the club every day. It was part of us,” Davido said, reflecting on his past. He noted that during a recent two-month stay in Nigeria, he barely went out, choosing instead to relax at home and enjoy a slower pace of life.
The singer described simple moments—such as barbecuing with friends, late-night studio sessions, and falling asleep on FaceTime with his wife—as more fulfilling than nightlife outings.
Davido clarified that the lifestyle change does not affect his professional energy. He stressed that he remains fully engaged when it comes to recording music, performing, or delivering live shows.
“When it’s time to party, record, or perform, that’s my career,” he said. “But in regular life, anytime I get the chance to sleep now, I take it.”
The singer’s remarks highlight a growing trend among established artists who are redefining success beyond nightlife and public appearances, placing greater value on balance, family, and personal well-being.
