Award-winning Nigerian singer David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has opened up about the emotional support he received from his wife, Chioma Rowland Adeleke, following his loss at the 68th Annual Grammy Awards.
Davido’s song “With You,” featuring Omah Lay, was nominated in the Best African Music Performance category. However, the award went to South African singer Tyla for her song “Push 2 Start.”
The category featured a strong lineup of African artists, including Nigerians Burna Boy, Ayra Starr, Wizkid, Omah Lay, and Eddy Kenzo. Despite the multiple nominations, none of the Nigerian contenders emerged winners.
Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Davido shared a personal moment from the night, revealing that he was initially reluctant to attend the Grammy after-party. According to him, it was his wife’s encouragement that changed his mind.
“She told me, ‘Be humble in victory and gracious in defeat. We’re outside,’” the singer wrote.
Davido later shared photos from the outing, expressing appreciation for Chioma’s reassuring words and steady presence.
The post quickly resonated with fans, many of whom praised the couple’s bond and Chioma’s role as a source of strength for the global music star.
