Nigerian Afrobeats superstar Davido has been admitted as a voting member of the Recording Academy, the body behind the Grammy Awards.
With the 2026 edition of the Grammys on the horizon, Davido will now be part of the select group of industry professionals who determine nominees and winners across categories.
In a video message, the singer described his new role as a “gamechanger,” stressing the importance of representation in global music decisions. “I have learned that voting empowers you to have a say in what is considered and voted on in each season,” he said.
Davido, who earned his first three Grammy nominations in 2024, also received a fourth nod in 2025 for Sensational, his collaboration with Chris Brown and Lojay, in the Best African Music Performance category. The award ultimately went to Tems for Love Me Jeje.
Expressing gratitude, Davido said he was honoured to join the Academy and looks forward to contributing his voice to the world’s most prestigious music awards.
