Grammy-nominated Afrobeats singer Davido has formally declared his decision to join the Accord Party, aligning politically with his uncle and Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke.
The music star made the announcement on his verified X account, where he disclosed plans to collect his party membership card at Imole House in Osogbo, the Osun State capital. According to Davido, the visit was scheduled for Wednesday.
“I will be live in Osun to pick up my @AccordPartyNG membership card @ IMOLE HOUSE OSOGBO Tomorrow,” he wrote, adding a message of support for the party and tagging Governor Adeleke.
Davido’s declaration comes less than two weeks after Governor Adeleke officially adopted the Accord Party as his new political platform ahead of the 2026 governorship election in Osun State.
The governor had earlier announced his defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), citing unresolved leadership challenges at the party’s national level. He explained that his decision followed weeks of consultations with political stakeholders and opinion leaders across the state.
“I joined the Accord Party more than a month ago, precisely on November 6th, as a platform to seek re-election in 2026,” Adeleke had said.
Davido’s move has since drawn attention online, marking another intersection between entertainment and politics as the singer openly associates with a major political shift in Osun State.
