Grammy-nominated Afrobeats star Davido has publicly denied claims that he is the father of a teenage girl identified as Anu, following her emotional appeal for a DNA test to establish her identity.
In a statement shared on social media, the singer dismissed the allegation and accused Anu’s mother of misleading her daughter. Davido stated that he had already submitted to multiple DNA tests, all of which he said confirmed he is not the teenager’s father.
“I’ve taken five DNA tests, all negative. I am not your father,” the singer wrote, adding that the tests were conducted at hospitals selected by both parties. According to him, three facilities were chosen by his team, while two were picked by Anu’s side, with the same outcome in each case.
The controversy escalated after Anu posted a message on Instagram requesting a DNA test directly from Davido. In the post, she spoke about years of bullying and emotional distress, saying classmates mocked her claims of being the singer’s daughter. She said the experience affected her mental health and required professional support.
“As I grow older, I want to establish my identity,” Anu wrote, explaining that her request was personal and not influenced by relatives. She maintained that the DNA test was necessary for her peace of mind as she transitions into adulthood.
Reacting to the post, Davido expressed frustration over the renewed claims, insisting he has never had a relationship with Anu’s mother. He also warned that he may pursue legal action, stating that the situation should be addressed by holding adults accountable rather than directing blame at the teenager.
The development has sparked widespread debate online, with social media users divided over the handling of the issue, especially given the involvement of a minor and the public nature of the dispute.
