Afrobeats superstar Davido has addressed a viral video showing him being struck on the head in Warri, Delta State, clarifying that the incident was a misunderstanding.
The clip, which surfaced after his performance at a wedding and later appearance at a popular nightclub in the city, sparked widespread concern among fans who feared the singer had been attacked.
In the footage, Davido can be seen leaving the venue when a man appeared to slap him on the head, prompting outrage on social media.
However, the singer has now explained what happened. In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Davido said the blow came from one of his security personnel who was attempting to shield him from an overexcited fan.
“That was my security. Hit me by mistake,” he wrote, putting to rest speculations of an assault.
Davido, one of Africa’s biggest music exports, continues to attract massive crowds at home and abroad, often requiring tight security during his public appearances.
The clarification has reassured fans, many of whom had flooded social media with messages of concern after the video went viral.
