Nigerian music sensation Davido will take center stage as a headline performer for the official 2025 Africa Cup of Nations kick-off concert this Saturday, December 20. The high-energy event, organized by CAF in partnership with the Kingdom of Morocco, will be held at the OLM Souissi Fan Zone in Rabat starting at 6:00 PM local time.
Davido shares the marquee with Moroccan-born American rapper French Montana, marking a significant cultural fusion of Afrobeats and global hip-hop to launch Africa’s premier football tournament.
The star-studded lineup also features a diverse array of regional talent, including Moroccan pop rising star Douaa Lahyaoui, urban contemporary artist Says’z, and the platinum-selling Franco-Moroccan rapper Lartiste. This concert serves as the primary entertainment curtain-raiser for the month-long tournament, which officially begins on Sunday, December 21, with host nation Morocco facing Comoros at the newly renovated Stade Prince Moulay Abdallah.
Event Logistics and Fan Access
To ensure a secure and organized experience, CAF has implemented strict entry requirements for the Rabat showcase:
-
Mandatory Credentials: Entry is restricted to spectators who possess both a valid match ticket and an official AFCON Fan ID.
-
The YALLA App: Fans must obtain their Fan ID through the official YALLA app (available on iOS and Android), which also provides international supporters with access to free electronic visas for the duration of the competition.
-
Fan Parks: The OLM Souissi venue is the flagship of eight official Fan Parks established across Morocco, designed to host live screenings and cultural celebrations throughout the tournament.
Davido’s Growing Sporting Legacy
This performance cements Davido’s status as a top-tier choice for major global sporting ceremonies. His portfolio now includes:
-
AFCON 2017: Performed at the opening ceremony in Gabon.
-
FIFA World Cup 2022: Featured on the official soundtrack and performed at the draw in Doha.
-
PFA Awards 2023: Provided the headline entertainment for the UK-based professional awards.
With over 300,000 tickets already sold for the opening fixtures, the Rabat concert is expected to draw a massive crowd as Morocco prepares to host the continent for the first time in 37 years.
