Nigerian comedian and skit maker Cute Abiola has urged both the Federal Government and the Kwara State Government to take decisive steps to address the rising insecurity in the state following Tuesday’s attack on a Christ Apostolic Church in Eruku.
The assault, carried out by suspected bandits, sparked nationwide outrage after a viral video showed elderly worshippers scrambling for safety inside the church. Cute Abiola said the clip clearly reflects how unsafe the country has become.
Posting on X on Wednesday, he wrote, “What happened in Kwara State is heartbreaking. Seeing that elderly woman running for her life inside a church… that clip alone says everything about how unsafe we have become as a nation.”
The comedian stressed that Nigerians are exhausted by recurring government statements that fail to translate into real action. “Please, we don’t want another press statement. Don’t tell us you are ‘on top of the situation.’ We need action. We need results. We need protection,” he said.
Music producer DJ Neptune also reacted to the attack, lamenting that insecurity has worsened despite earlier promises from the current administration.
“Nowhere seems to be safe anymore, and this should never be the case,” he wrote, calling on authorities to fulfill their commitments and “wipe out these devilish creatures causing our land so much pain.”
Their comments add to growing public pressure on the government to respond more decisively to violent attacks across the country.
