Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner has confirmed that club captain Marc Guéhi will leave Selhurst Park when his contract expires at the end of next season.
“Guéhi has told us that he will not renew,” Glasner revealed during Friday’s press conference, according to AS.
“Not just me, but the entire club wanted Marc to sign a new contract, and we offered it to him, but he wants something different.”
The announcement ends months of speculation over the England international’s future and sets up one of the most anticipated transfer battles of 2026.
Guéhi, 25, joined Palace from Chelsea in 2021 and has since risen to become captain and the defensive cornerstone of the team, guiding the Eagles to historic triumphs in the FA Cup and Community Shield. His leadership and consistency have also earned him full England honours.
With his departure confirmed, Liverpool and Real Madrid are reportedly leading the race for his signature, while Barcelona, Bayern Munich, and Inter Milan have also shown interest. Liverpool previously came close to signing Guéhi for €40 million last summer before Palace owner Steve Parish blocked the deal.
Real Madrid are said to view the defender as a long-term replacement option in their back line — or as a backup plan if Liverpool succeed in extending Ibrahima Konaté’s contract.
While Guéhi remains focused on finishing the 2025–26 season strong with Palace, his decision not to renew marks the end of a defining chapter in South London.
For the club’s faithful, it will be a bittersweet farewell — watching their captain lead them for one final season before taking his talents to one of Europe’s biggest stages.
