Afrobeats artist Charles Chibueze Chukwu, better known as Crayon, has bid an emotional farewell to his mother, Evelyn Chukwu, who was laid to rest months after her passing on July 4.
The Mavin Records star described her death as the most painful moment of his life, referring to her as his “soldier, backbone, and pillar.”
Reflecting on her unwavering support, Crayon recounted how his mother worked tirelessly for more than two decades, selling fruits to sustain their family. He fondly called her “Iya Carrot,” a nickname that captured her enduring spirit and love.
“For 21 years, you sold fruits to take care of Peace, me, your sister, and everyone. You never hesitated to give your last,” the Ngozi crooner said in his tribute.
Crayon vowed to keep her values alive and remain grounded as he continues his music journey, a dream she had always believed in. He also expressed gratitude to fans, friends, and colleagues for their outpouring of love and support during his time of grief.
Describing her passing as a loss that has left “an unhealable scar,” the singer said he would continue to live in a way that honours her memory.
