The Federal High Court in Abuja has affirmed the Nenadi Usman–led caretaker committee as the legitimate leadership of the Labour Party (LP), directing the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to formally recognise the committee.
In a ruling delivered by Justice Peter Lifu, the court held that the Nenadi Usman committee constitutes the valid administrative authority of the party, effectively settling the leadership dispute.
The judgment compels INEC to accord the committee full recognition in all official dealings involving the Labour Party.
The decision is expected to have significant political implications, particularly as the party navigates internal restructuring and prepares for future electoral activities.
