A Magistrate Court in Ikorodu, Lagos, has ordered that DNA tests be carried out on Liam Aloba, the two-year-old son of late Nigerian singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad.
Magistrate Adefisoye Sonuga gave the ruling on Tuesday while delivering judgment on an application filed by the singer’s father, Joseph Aloba.
Mohbad’s widow, Omowunmi Cynthia Aloba, was listed as the respondent in the suit. During the hearing, Joseph Aloba’s counsel, Augustine Adegbemi, moved the motion, while Omowunmi’s lawyer, Kabir Akingbolu, did not oppose it.
In his ruling, Magistrate Sonuga directed that two DNA tests be conducted, one in Nigeria and the other outside the country. He added that both tests must be carried out in accredited hospitals, with representatives of both parties present during the collection of samples.
The court adjourned the matter to November 11 for further proceedings.
The decision comes amid ongoing debates and public interest in the late artist’s family affairs, which have remained in the spotlight since his passing in September 2023.
