Nigerian comedian and actor Ijoba Lande has accused operatives attached to the Area “J” Division of the Lagos State Police Command of allegedly assaulting him and confiscating personal belongings.
In a video circulating widely on social media, the entertainer is seen with visible facial injuries, including blood around his eyes, while bystanders pour water on him to offer assistance. The footage also shows scenes inside what appears to be a police facility, where Ijoba Lande seemed to be reporting the incident following the alleged attack.
The comedian, known for his popular skits and roles in Yoruba Nollywood films, stated that the incident occurred just six days after his return to Nigeria from the United Kingdom.
He alleged that officers physically assaulted him, seized his iPhone 16 Pro Max, and took $1,200 in cash belonging to his brother. Ijoba Lande described the ordeal as traumatising and said he is seeking redress for the alleged misconduct.
The Lagos State Police Command has yet to release an official statement regarding the incident, and details surrounding the confrontation remain unclear.
