Bayelsa United technical adviser Meremu Okara has affirmed that his squad remains resolute in their mission to achieve a successful finish in the 2025/2026 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL). The “Prosperity Boys” currently endure a challenging period, having managed just one victory in their last five league outings.
This dip in form follows a 2-0 defeat against Kwara United at the Rashidi Yekini Stadium, a result that left the Yenagoa-based club in 13th place on the log with 23 points.
Despite the recent setback, Okara remains optimistic about the team’s ability to ascend the standings during the second half of the season. He noted that the competitive nature of the league allows for rapid movement in the rankings, provided the team secures back-to-back victories. The technical crew is currently focusing on tactical adjustments and mental fortitude to ensure the players rediscover the winning consistency they displayed earlier in the campaign.
“The league is very open, our position on the log isn’t that bad, if we win two or three matches we move up,” Okara told Bayelsa United’s media team. “The league is still open but we will keep fighting and hope for the best.”
The Prosperity Boys must now turn their attention to a critical upcoming fixture against El-Kanemi Warriors this Monday. A victory in Yenagoa would not only break their winless streak but also provide the necessary momentum to distance themselves from the lower half of the table. With the support of the home fans, Okara expects a high-intensity performance that reflects the club’s ultimate ambitions for the season.
