China’s Foreign Minister, Wang Yi, has emphasized the critical role of the United Nations in maintaining global stability.
He stated that the world would face greater challenges without the UN’s presence.
In a recent press conference at the National People’s Congress, Wang highlighted China’s Global Governance Initiative (GGI), describing it as a timely proposal that has garnered support from over 150 countries and international organizations.
He expressed that initiatives aimed at creating separate structures outside the UN or exclusive groups of certain nations are not sustainable and lack broad acceptance.
As a founding member and steadfast supporter of the UN’s mission, China is calling on more nations to engage with and endorse the GGI.
Wang underscored the importance of strengthening the UN to enhance its effectiveness and maintain its authoritative role in global governance.
“The GGI completely meets the expectations of the international community and shows the hopes of people from all countries.
“The most clear message from the GGI is that the UN’s leading position must be supported, not questioned; its central role must be made stronger, not less important,” he stated.
