Popular Nigerian singer Chike has publicly accused social media user Chioma Nneoma Ochibili of defrauding him of $20,000.
In posts shared on X on Monday morning, Chike alleged that he gave Ochibili funds for a business venture, but the arrangement was not fulfilled. He claimed he only realized the alleged fraud later.
“Chioma Nneoma Ochibili, so you are a thief? That’s how they do. They will tell you they are doing certain business. Her business is to survive on your money,” he wrote, adding that he lost $20,000 of his own money and observed other sums allegedly mismanaged.
Chike cautioned his followers against engaging in business with Ochibili, urging vigilance in financial transactions.
Responding to questions about the nature of the business transaction, the singer said the details of the venture are irrelevant, emphasizing that the critical issue is that the business allegedly does not exist, which constitutes fraud.
“Whatever business Chioma sells to you is not the issue. The big issue here is that the business does not even exist, which then equates to fraud,” he said.
The singer also confirmed that he has initiated steps to recover the lost funds, though no further details about the recovery process were shared.
As of now, Chioma Nneoma Ochibili has not responded to Chike’s allegations. The posts have since generated discussion among fans and social media users about online fraud and caution in business dealings.
