Chelsea eased mounting pressure on head coach Liam Rosenior by booking their place in the FA Cup semi-finals with a commanding 7–0 victory over Port Vale at Stamford Bridge.
After a difficult run that included consecutive Premier League defeats and a heavy Champions League loss to Paris Saint-Germain, the Blues responded emphatically against lower-league opposition, ensuring their pursuit of silverware remains alive.
Chelsea set the tone almost immediately, taking the lead just 64 seconds in when Jorrel Hato reacted quickest after a failed clearance from Port Vale goalkeeper Joe Gauci, firing home through a crowded box.
The advantage doubled midway through the first half as João Pedro showed composure inside the area, controlling Pedro Neto’s cross before turning and finishing neatly into the corner. Chelsea tightened their grip on the contest before the break, with Cole Palmer converting from close range after Malo Gusto’s effort was saved.
With the tie effectively decided, Chelsea maintained their attacking intensity in the second half. Tosin Adarabioyo added a fourth with a powerful header, before Andrey Santos and Estêvão both found the net to extend the lead further.
Estêvão, returning from injury, had earlier struck the post but eventually capped his performance with a well-taken goal, underlining Chelsea’s attacking depth.
The blues got their seventh goal through a penalty that was fired home by Alejandro Garnacho to seal the win for them.
The comprehensive win offers Chelsea a timely lift amid a turbulent season, as attention now turns to a crucial run of fixtures and a trip to Wembley.
