Chelsea have reportedly blocked their Italian manager, Enzo Maresca, from returning to Italy to take charge of Juventus.
The Blues are said to have no intention of letting Maresca leave, following reports that Juventus had identified him as a potential replacement for Igor Tudor, who was sacked earlier this week after a poor run of results.
In the interim, Massimo Brambilla, head coach of Juventus’ reserve team, led the Turin giants to a 3-1 victory over Udinese on Wednesday night.
While Juventus are reportedly close to appointing Luciano Spalletti as their next permanent manager, rumours suggested the club had considered an audacious move for Maresca, who spent four years as a player with the Serie A side.
However, Chelsea have moved swiftly to block any approach, with Maresca under contract at Stamford Bridge until 2029.
Maresca will now turn his attention to Chelsea’s Premier League clash against Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday, as the Blues aim to bounce back from their shock 2-1 defeat to Sunderland last weekend.
