US singer-songwriter Chappell Roan has announced her departure from her talent agency, Wasserman, following revelations linking the agency’s CEO, Casey Wasserman, to files related to late convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
The decision comes after the release of documents under the Epstein Files Transparency Act (EFTA), passed by Congress in November 2025, which required the Department of Justice to make public all records pertaining to Epstein.
Roan, 27, expressed her reasons in an Instagram post on Monday, emphasizing that artists should not have to defend or ignore behavior that contradicts their moral values. “I have deep respect and appreciation for the agents and staff who work tirelessly for their artists, and I refuse to stand by,” she wrote.
She added that her choice reflects her belief that meaningful change in the entertainment industry requires accountability and leadership that earns trust. “Artists deserve representation that aligns with their values,” Roan said.
Wasserman, who also serves as chairman of the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics, previously acknowledged emails from 2003 exchanged with Ghislaine Maxwell, though he has not been accused of any wrongdoing in the Epstein scandal. Maxwell was sentenced in 2022 to 20 years in prison for her role in a scheme to exploit and abuse minors with Epstein.
Roan did not directly reference Epstein or the contents of the files in her statement, focusing instead on the ethical stance behind her departure.
Wasserman’s agency represents high-profile clients, including Adam Sandler and Brad Pitt, making Roan’s exit a notable moment in the entertainment industry as conversations around accountability and ethics continue.
