Super Eagles striker Kelechi Iheanacho has completed a move to Celtic after leaving Sevilla as a free agent.
The Scottish champions won the race for the 28-year-old’s signature, beating off competition from at least two other clubs. Iheanacho had his contract with Sevilla terminated by mutual consent on transfer deadline day.
The Nigerian international has signed a one-year deal at Celtic Park, reuniting with manager Brendan Rodgers, who previously coached him at Leicester City.
Rodgers expressed confidence in the forward’s ability to make an impact for the Scottish champions. “He will make a big contribution,” the manager said.
Iheanacho comes in as a direct replacement for Adam Idah, who sealed a transfer to Swansea City.
The striker joined Sevilla last summer but spent the latter part of the campaign on loan with Middlesbrough in the English Championship.
