CCTV footage, exclusively seen by the Nation, has shed light on what transpired during a heated altercation between Embakasi East MP Babu Owino and Kileleshwa ward MCA Robert Alai at a restaurant in Nairobi’s Kilimani area.
The incident has since triggered a police investigation and renewed scrutiny of the conduct of elected leaders in public spaces.
Kilimani Sub-County Police Commander Patricia Yegon on Sunday said that both leaders had recorded statements, and officers were to interview revellers and staff at the restaurant to establish the facts.
“Based on the analysis of the evidence – reviewing CCTV footage and interviewing all those present – we expect to determine who actually committed an offence. Irrespective of status, necessary action will be taken,” Ms Yegon told journalists at the Kilimani restaurant.
