Nigerian streamer and skitmaker Caterefe has spoken publicly about the tragic killing of his father during a robbery incident in Ogun State.
Appearing on a recent episode of The Honest Bunch Podcast, Caterefe recounted how his father, a police officer, was shot by armed men disguised in military camouflage many years ago.
According to him, the incident occurred after his father had finished work and was heading home. He explained that the family was living in Ogun State at the time.
Caterefe said his father decided to board a police van to the nearest bus stop leading to their residence. However, the officers encountered a traffic gridlock caused by an ongoing robbery operation on the highway.
Unaware that the men in military-style uniforms were robbers, his father and his colleagues stepped out of the vehicle to assess the situation. The attackers reportedly opened fire immediately after noticing they were police officers.
“My dad had closed from duty and was heading home but he decided to enter the police van to the nearest bus-stop to our house,” Caterefe said. “They ran into a gridlock and some men in military camouflage were robbing. My dad and his colleagues alighted from the van to check what was going on but immediately the robbers spotted them in police uniform, they opened fire on them.”
The skitmaker described the aftermath as deeply traumatic, revealing that he later saw footage of his father’s body online.
“I saw my dad’s lifeless body on the ground with police uniform,” he said, adding that the video remains available on YouTube.
Despite the painful experience, Caterefe said the loss has strengthened his resolve.
“I am not a stranger to pain. I have gone through a lot of pains. So, there is no pain that will make me stop my grind,” he added.
